OUR STORY

Bettaway Farm: Regenerative Farming

Both Eric and Elizabeth grew up in cities with nothing but dogs and cats as pets. Once Elizabeth went to UMass Amherst and helped manage the student run goat herd, she knew one day she'd have her own. For Eric, his interest in making his own food started with fermentation. Like wildfire, his interests spread, eventually wanting a diverse group of animals to help increase the health of the land and the nutrition in  food they could grow.

It wasn't until the COVID pandemic that pushed them to start farming, becoming more self sufficient. From here, Eric's passions continued to grow. It started with a small flock of chickens and 3 goats. Now, they have quadrupled their goat herd, doubled their chicken flock and added ducks and geese to the mix. This year, he has big plans for his vegetable garden. Stay tuned to see how they continue to grow and diversify their farm in the years to come.
